Five weeks after Preslie was born she came down with this horrible fever. The doctor told us to go into the hospital if it ever went over 102 as they don't like newborns having a temperature that high, and told us to take her temperature every hour. We were at a Carpender family dinner party when she finally hit 103 and so we left immediately and took her in.
At the hospital they took her temperature, gave her tylenol, and then an hour later took her temperature again. When her temperature hit 104 even after Tylenol, they told us they thought she had meningitis and that they needed to do a lumbar puncture for spinal fluid to test.
Eric and I had to leave the room, there was now way we could sit in a room and watch them poke a large needle into our little girls back.
It turned out that she didn't have meningitis, she had some crazy virus, and they ended up sending us home. Preslie has been VERY healthy ever since.
With Parker, the first 18 moths of his life was HELL! Between cholic and eight ear infections in 9 months, he seemed like he was constatly in pain and so he was constantly crying. We have LOVED being able to really enjoy a little baby and not having a million doctor bills.
The past few weeks Preslie has been a DIV-A!!!! Terrible diva. Always whiny, always wanting to be held, never sleeping through the night. It was very reminiscent of little Parker. I wondered where my cute little girl went. On Tuesday last week Eric and I decided that if she wasn't better by Thursday, we would take her into the doctor.
Thursday came, and she was still not better. I took her into the doctors office by our work and after an hour wait (hate teh waits!) we finally got to see the doctor who told me that Preslie had a double ear infection in her right ear (inner and outer ear) as well as an ear infection in her left. He prescribed amoxicillin and about 24 hours after her first dose, Preslie has been AMAZING all over again. We are so grateful for modern medicine and doctors who can help keep our life normal!
